April 2009.  Welcome to Cocoonnections! - a place where you can hear about what I'm up to here at The Creative Cocoon.

I am currently gearing up for the Expressive Arts Post Graduate Certificate Program at Fleming College, Haliburton. This eight week intensive program is always full of learning and fun for me. I was fortunate enough to obtain a grant to continue my work of taking expressive arts into long term care homes. This project will see me designing and training volunteers to reach out to seniors in our community who could benefit from having art in their lives. I am excited to be able to contribute. I have two new summer courses coming up: Storytelling within the Expressive Arts and Transformation Mask Making – see my calendar for more information.

Adventures

One of the biggest adventures I am involved with is the Arts Rx program, taking art making into long term care homes and the new project, Visible Voices which will expand on Arts Rx in our community. I have learned so much about stocking and using an Art Cart – supplies on wheels that can be taken from room to room – and how to engage seniors in the creative process. The research components from each of these projects will I hope help others who are thinking of entering this work. If you’d like to know more please do email me at fay@thecreativecocoon.com.
