Fun creative exercises and fibre studies to loosen

of games, exercises and music we'll develop a series
of fibre 'studies' which will help your inner magic
emerge and flourish in a fresh and exciting way!
The 'studies' will include felt making, fibre sculpting,
collage, embellishing, painting, and stitching.

Fibre Unshackled! Series

FU 1 . - Unfettered Felt.

This is the first in the series "Fibre Unshackled!" - a very different workshop experience -
fun, creative fibre studies to loosen you up and build confidence!

Using felting needles we'll explore the versatility of this exciting new form of felting.
Through a series of dry felted sculptural fibre studies, I'll introduce you to a variety
of needle felting techniques and also help you to work intuitively, by allowing the
pieces to evolve

As faces, creatures, landscape features suggest themselves, you'll help them emerge.
As you become acquainted with your creations, their stories will unfold.
No previous felting experience is necessary.

The felting needle has no eye and uses no thread. The 'barbs' on the needle end push and
lock the fibres together to achieve the felting process. No water, soap or agitation
(the traditional felting method) is needed. Sculptural detail is fast and easy.
The rhythmic use of the needle is soothing, the results exciting.

FU 2. - Bowers For Two-Leggeds.

The Australian Bower Bird constructs a magnificent and elaborate structure to attract a female.
It's made from twigs, feathers, stones, moss and anything shiny! We'll borrow some of his
techniques and methods to create a structure to attract what it is we want in our lives.
We'll use natural and found materials, fibre and whatever shiny things we need!

NEW! FU 3. - Quilted Felterludes™.

Come and explore a new dimension in quiltmaking! Create a totally unique feltlet (a lap quilt or wall hanging), which will be feather light and toasty warm. We'll use familiar materials like cotton backing and cotton batting, but our blocks will be dry felted with scrumptious wool fibres! This exciting, simple and innovative technique (known as 'needlefelting') uses speciality needles that have no eye and need no thread. They have barbs at the base of the needle, which will push and lock the fibre to create an extremely strong fabric. The blocks can be either machine or hand stitched together. The possibilities for surface embellishment are endless. The completed quilt top can also be machine or hand quilted. Absolutely no felting experience is necessary!
