Storytelling in Mask. |

|
This
workshop concentrates on mask use in storytelling. It will combine mask
making
(or using provided masks), how to choose and adapt stories for mask telling, building the character, how to prepare yourself, and mask performance. |

The Sacred Art of Mask & Stories. |
|||||||||
|
In
this workshop the ancient traditions of Masking and Storytelling will
be used as
tools to explore facets of ourselves in a safe and supportive environment. Masks can conceal and protect, as well as reveal and enlighten. We'll create our masks, off a provided lightweight base, with fabric, wool fibre, paint and found materials using a variety of your chosen techniques. We'll also honour the masks by building and enacting their stories. |

Intuitive Felt Masks. |
|||||||||
|
Beginning
with flat felt that you'll create, we'll begin to 'see' features appear
as we work.
We'll use a face 'form' to shape the mask and the felting needle with additional fibre if we need more definition. (It would be helpful if you have taken Felt Fundamentals 1 and 2 from the Technique Treats! Workshops). Time will be given to writing and telling your mask's story. |

Mask Mechanics. |
|||||||||
|
This
workshop will explore a number of mask making techniques to include
plaster
face casting, clay relief and fabric, paper headband masks, hand crafted felt and modelling medium. Painting and embellishment will also be incorporated. |
